Dressage Clinic
with
Mike Schaffer

Mike’s goal is to make dressage understandable, accessible and enjoyable for you and your horse. His system of starting and re-schooling horses begins with work from the ground and progresses up the levels and through the movements. His emphasis is on always keeping the horse moving gently forward into your hands.
He bases his training methods on four principles:

  • The horse has to be softened from front to back
before he can be ridden forward from back to front.

  • The horse has to be supple before he can be
    straight.

  • The horse has to stretch correctly before he can
    collect properly.

  • The horse has to understand what you want before
you can make him do what you want.
